It is a hill settlement, Timure. It is under this hill, Bhotekoshi. Vehicles were parked on the banks of the Koshi. Locals enjoyed watching the view of the parking lot from the hill. However, the flood that came on Tuesday morning made this scene a ruin in a moment. As we watched, the freight cars started to blend into the dim Bhotekoshi.

Some of the drivers who went to get the car also fell into the trap. The residential area of the 111 MW Rasuwagadhi hydropower project across from the customs office was submerged in an instant. 8 Hilux vehicles have been flooded .

This scene was watched by villagers including 60-year-old Lakpa Cho Ghale of Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-2 Timure. Last June 24, at 3:30 in the morning, the villagers were shocked by the torrential flood.

Lakpa used to run a hotel in Rasuwagadi before the 2072 earthquake. In the earthquake of Baisakh 12th, many people died in front of their eyes. Even though the earthquake was big, there was not so much fear in my heart as the flood on June 24 brought.

There are more than 100 households in Timure. "Suddenly, the house on the hill shook and it was like an earthquake, everyone was scared and started crying," says Lakpa, "many of them started kicking because the hill was shaking, saying it was an earthquake."

Customs yard was his place of employment . She was looking down from this hill and was feeling sorry for being unemployed. As the goods had to be taken out for customs inspection at the yard, she used to work as a porter carrying the goods. "There were 10 people in the group, we used to get 8,000 a day," she said.

Only the locals of Timure, Dahal Fedi, Thuman of Gosainkunda Rural Municipality can carry goods in the yard. Outsiders are not allowed to come and do porter work . Nasu Chandiraj Gelal of Rasuwa Customs Office said that there are 610 such workers in three villages. "Everyone works in turn, there is a customs workers union," he said, "the union hires workers based on the workload." According to loading and unloading, the group takes 8 to 10 thousand per vehicle. This is the usual amount to take . In unusual cases, they take 60,000 to 80,000 and return the goods.'

After the devastation of the flood, the situation here is unusual. He said that the workers were taking out the goods from the vehicles stuck in the flood and returning them. He said that if the border is closed, the livelihood of the locals may be stopped.

Meera Thapamgar, a local, said that after the road was washed away due to the landslide, the area around the headquarters was closed. There was no light here since the flood. The telephone was also blocked. It has been operational since Thursday evening. Thapamagar said that since it is an international border connecting China-Nepal, bridges and roads should be built as soon as possible and the border should be put into operation.

Kami Chhiring Tamang, the ward president of Gosaikund Rural Municipality-2, said that it is surprising that such a big flood occurred even without rain. "The flood has caused great damage to the physical structure," he said, "in this regard, the government should take the initiative to open the border and open the road." He said that the Sangh Sarka is taking initiatives to operate the road from the local level as well.
