Sujan Koirala of Butwal, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of murdering his brother, after getting the rest of his prison sentence commuted by the President, has killed his ex-wife and her two daughters. Sujan called Deepa Basyal and her two daughters, aged 7 and 2 years, to their house in Milijuli Path, Butwal sub-metropolitan city-11 and killed them.
Sujan, who was jailed for murdering Maila Dai Sudeep in December 2069, was released on October 3, 2078 after getting the prison sentence commuted by the then President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the occasion of Constitution Day. According to the police, Sujan had married Deepa a year before the murder.
Deepa got divorced in 2072 when Sujan was in jail. She married a young man from Nawalparasi. After that, Deepa's two daughters were born. Her husband is in Dubai for foreign employment.
According to Police Superintendent of District Police Office Ruppandehi Pradip Bahadur Kshatri, a health worker working at Kunsare Basic Health Center located in Palpa's Tansen Municipality-7, went to Butwal with her two daughters for the wedding of Deepa Amaju on Tuesday. At night, she stayed at Sujan's house with her daughter. Arjun Ranjan, who was called by Sujan to repair the kitchen, informed the police after seeing the body on Wednesday morning.
Sujan has been arrested. He told the police that he could not bear the stress after the fight and killed him. According to District Police Spokesperson DSP Suraj Karki, it has been found in the preliminary investigation that Sujan killed all three people by using knife and hammer. In the year 2069, he took the life of his brother when he refused to clear the loan by mortgaging the shop.
At that time, Sujan had killed his brother at home and kept the body in the car and dropped it from the bhir near Kerabari on Siddharth highway. He took the help of Kalu Chand of Chaurah, Dailekh to kill his brother. After the murder, Sujan had expressed that he would close the palpa without finding the body or breath of the missing brother. The family filed a petition asking the police to search for Sudeep as he has disappeared from the house.
After it was found that Sujan had committed the murder in the police investigation, he was arrested and presented to the court. On January 29, 2070, the District Court of Palpa decided to sentence Sujan to life imprisonment. Sujan, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison, was sentenced to 16 years in prison by the Supreme Court using Raya.
Sujan, who is in Palpa jail, was sent to Sindhupalchok jail on 27 June 2071. Sujan, who had escaped from the prison there, was arrested by the Palpa police on 31 Baisakh 2072 and sent to prison.
On 18 February 2073, he was handed over to Bhimfedi Jail in Makwanpur, according to Palpa Jail. After that, he stayed in prisons including Pokhara and was released three and a half years ago after getting the rest of his imprisonment. After being released from prison, he was doing business at his own house in Butwal.
