Maoist Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has reached the house of Dailekh journalist Dekendra Thapa who was killed by Maoists.

Dahal, who reached Dailekh as part of 'Maoist with Janata: Madhyapahari Lokmarg Abhiyan', garlanded journalist Thapa's shaliq. Before that, Dahal went to Thapa's house and met the family members.

According to Dahal's secretariat, Dahal met Thapa's family on Monday. President Prachanda has placed a wreath on Dailekh journalist Dekendra Thapa's funeral. President Prachanda went to his home and met with his family before the garlanding, Dahal's secretariat said.

During the Maoist-led people's war, journalists were beaten to death. Thapa was beaten to death by Maoist activists after abduction.  On July 27, 2061, he was beaten in a school classroom.

Three people involved in the incident were sentenced to life imprisonment by the district court in November 2078.
