The MPs of the ruling Congress have criticized the policy and program for the financial year 2082/83 presented in the Federal Parliament on Friday saying that it is not in accordance with the spirit of the coalition government. In the meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party on Saturday, the MPs criticized the slogan 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali' for trying to partisanize the policies and programs.

Member of Parliament Jeevan Pariyar, who is also the joint general minister of the party, said that the government's policies and programs were tried to be formalized and the role of Congress in the government with equal status was not reflected in the program.

"Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali is the slogan of UML, not the government," he said, "If we don't amend it, we should make it include the slogan of prosperous Nepal, respected Nepali." Before that, MP Sita Gurung, who was also a former minister, also said that the slogan of "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali" was repeated and Congress programs were missed.

Despite criticism from MPs, the Congress party meeting decided to support the government's policies and programs with positive views and constructive suggestions. It is mentioned in the decision that the policies and programs introduced by the government, in which the Congress is also involved, are aimed at promoting good governance and achieving economic prosperity, making Nepal's role effective and stronger in national and international forums.

"This meeting requests the government to prepare the budget for the coming fiscal year 2082/83 so that the programs presented in the policy program are completed," the decision issued after the party meeting said. were Also, MPs raised questions about the working style of the government and the efficiency of the minister.

Joint Chief Minister Pariyar quoting the reference to the appointment of the governor drew the attention of the leadership saying that even in the political appointments, there is no feeling of equal status in the government and the Congress is becoming defensive. Like him, MP Sarita Prasain, another MP Ramakrishna Yadav also alleged that political appointments were being made by the UML.

MP Ramhari Khatiwada said that if the message goes that the Congress and UML cannot do anything, there will be more instability in the country. He opined that the government of the two largest parties in the parliament cannot last for long and if another equation is made again, political instability will increase. He said that instead of changing the equation, it is necessary to speed up the work of the ministers.

MPs Shankar Bhandari, Sanjay Gautam, Dik Bahadur Limbu and others had said that the Prime Minister himself made a mistake by dismissing State Minister Tamang as the party should recall him. Party Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is silent on this issue, has expressed criticism about the government's policies and programs, but has given verbal instructions not to make amendments. Deuba said that amending the policies and programs brought by the government including his own party would send a wrong message.

The parliamentarian has also asked for coordination in the preparation of the budget. Congress MPs have also demanded that the prime minister and ministers should not only look at their constituencies, that MPs should not be classified as national, direct and proportional, that the budget should be made proportionally based on geographical location and population, and that the budget should be made based on coordination with the Congress.

The meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party has instructed the parliamentarians to be active in the parliament and committee meetings. As the government has mentioned in its policy and program that it will advance not only budget-related bills but also some pending bills in the current annual session, the meeting requested to play an active role in that direction.

The government has announced that it will advance the education, civil, land and other bills from this session. In the nine-point agreement between the government and the teachers' federation, it is mentioned that they will commit to pass the education bill by June 15.

UML praises the parliamentary party

Criticism of policies and programs in the Congress Parliamentary Party

The ruling UML has decided to support the policies and programs brought by the government and play an effective role in the parliament. The meeting of the parliamentary party of the party held on Saturday concluded that the policy and program is progressive, practical and people-oriented and decided to proceed positively.

Mahesh Bertaula, chief whip of UML, said that the meeting decided to effectively present the policies and programs in the parliament. He said that the conclusion of the meeting was that policies and programs aimed at removing the deep disappointment prevailing in the country, communicating hope and enthusiasm to the people and moving the country in the direction of rapid economic growth. Bertaula informed that it has been decided to praise and fully support the policies and programs that have been given high importance to prosperity, good governance and service delivery, keeping the interests of the people at the center.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in the meeting of the parliamentary party held at the Prime Minister's residence, Baluwatar, instructed the MPs to stand firmly in favor of the government's policies and programs as they are in favor of stability, development and good governance. "Our policy is right, friends, be confident about it," said Prime Minister Oli, "In the parliamentary process, the opposition is protesting for the sake of protest, so there is no need to check whether there is truth in what they are saying." We must stand firm for what is right.'

President Ramchandra Paudel presented the government's policy and program for the financial year 2082/83 at the joint meeting of the Federal Parliament on Friday. In order to play an effective role in favor of the government's policies and programs, the MPs of UML were also informed about the features of the program. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Vishnu Paudel, Prime Minister's Chief Political Advisor Vishnu Rimal and Chief Economic Advisor Yuvraj Khatiwada trained the MPs.

MPs were told during the training that the program aims to fulfill the national aspirations of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali' and to strengthen democracy. Similarly, since the government's policies and programs have decided to protect the constitution, strengthen the federal democratic republican governance system and counter any kind of regressive-resurrectionist anarchic activities, the UML MPs have been instructed by the party leadership to defend it in the parliament accordingly.
