Acting Prime Minister Prakashman Singh has said that the government will take a decision as soon as possible to stop air pollution in Kathmandu Valley. Acting Prime Minister Singh said this while taking suggestions from experts to reduce air pollution in Kathmandu Valley on Thursday.
Acting Prime Minister Singh said that based on the suggestions of experts, he will proceed after discussing with other concerned agencies.
Minister Singh says that necessary steps will be taken to prevent air pollution in Bhaihar through industries and factories. "Soon, the government will do the work that needs to be done immediately after discussing with other related agencies. Based on the suggestions of experts, we will make an immediate decision to reduce air pollution," he said.
After the air pollution in Kathmandu has crossed the dangerous level, the government has taken suggestions from experts to reduce the pollution. Experts have suggested two public holidays in a week to reduce air pollution.
According to the Air Quality Index (AQI), which measures the world's air quality, Nepal has been on the list of highly polluted countries for a few days now. According to the AQI scale, zero to 50 is 'clean', 51 to 100 is 'normal', 11 to 150 is 'possible risk', 151 to 200 is 'unhealthy', 201 to 300 is considered 'extremely unhealthy' and above 300 is considered 'dangerous'.
Currently, the level of air pollution in Kathmandu has reached 348 AQI and has reached the 'dangerous' category, according to the Ministry of Health. The ministry has asked everyone to be more alert with the increase in air pollution in the valley.
