Congress Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka has said that the Social Media Regulation Bill presented in Parliament will not be passed as it is. He said that discussions are underway to amend the bill so that civil rights guaranteed in the country's constitution can be protected and such rights can be used respectfully.
"Even if the matter of regulating social networks is added, the bill will be passed only by making it acceptable to everyone," In a press conference held on Sunday afternoon to inform about the meeting of the regional chairmen and heads of regional training institutes to be organized by the Policy, Research and Training Department of the Congress on February 19 and 20 in Bhairahawa, Khadka said, 'The social media regulation bill will not be passed like that.' "During the promulgation of the current constitution, there were dissatisfactions of the Madhesi, Dalit, women, Khas, Arya and backward communities," he said, "At the time of promulgation, there was talk of addressing their dissatisfaction through the amendment process, even if it was by amending the constitution at the time of promulgation, the amendment of the constitution is indispensable to fulfill that promise."
Mentioning the formation of the government of the country's two largest parties with the important historical responsibility of amending the constitution, he said that a mechanism involving the leaders of Congress and UML will be formed for that within some time. He said that after the establishment of the said mechanism, it will do the homework of amending the constitution by discussing with the ruling party, main opposition, other parties outside the government, civil society and stakeholders.
The Policy, Research and Training Department of the Congress has organized a training on Monday and Tuesday in Bhairahawa on how to institutionalize and strengthen the party with the participation of 330 people from regional presidents, heads of regional training institutes and regional presidents and vice presidents of districts with the same constituency. According to Khadka, chairman of the
department, apart from them, district, state and federal representatives of the party participated in the training program. Party Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to come to Bhairahawa on Monday morning to inaugurate the training. According to him, after the opening session on Monday morning, there will be presentations on 6 different topics such as policy reforms, physical infrastructure and other achievements of the Congress, role to be played by the Congress for the development of the constitution and the country, the upcoming convention, active members, and general elections. In addition, party vice-chairman Khadka informed that there is a program where the participants will share their experiences in their field, give critical suggestions about the government's actions and the two ministers participating in the government will respond to them.
