In the past few days, there has been an increase in accusations of writers and activists writing against Hinduism by taking dollars on social media. Accusations such as 'nationalist' and 'anti-Hinduism' have been made by linking the writer with charity organizations.

Writers and journalists Kanakmani Dixit, Narayan Wagle, Khagendra Sangraula, Yug Pathak, Krishna Dharavasi, Kund Dixit, Amar Neupane, Ahuti and Seema Abhas are being abused by making a group photo on social media. The list of books written by them has also been classified under the columns of USA, Norway and Germany and it has been alleged that they were written for money.

It seems that religious persons, groups or accounts, groups or pages opened or created in their name are active in posting or spreading such accusations. Writers and activists who have been writing and speaking in favor of the new constitution and through it supporters of the permanent system or making it more people-oriented seem to have been hit by them.

Leaders who are struggling for democratic movement in Nepali society are not road models. That's why the right wing has been raised," writer and journalist Wagle told Kantipur, "Also, mobile phones in people's hands have also brought social and mental disorders. It has become difficult to separate the conscience between the addiction to 24 hours on the mobile phone, the ignorance of social news and the culpability. By creating a fake ID under a pseudonym, it became easy for someone to get registered and attack by forming a cyber group.'

It is tried to establish that all the mentioned writers are against Hindu religion, Nepali language and culture. No one criticizes any part or context of the book. The accusation made by one has only been spread by the other, in which the intention to defame, harass or destroy the writer, artist and activist is seen.

Such propaganda linked to foreigners is easily spread by Jamaat who believes in  'conspiracy theory'. There is also a tendency to harass the concerned by 'mentioning', so that writers, artists and actors are forced to give explanations through social media.

writer Dharavasi had to come on Facebook live on Monday and give a statement against the objections of selling the country, language and culture. "That is not a proper objection, before the objection, one should go into the author's book, question the book, not question the author and his photos," he said.

Even though the relevant party is explaining the accusations on social media, a large group of people who are aware of them remain silent until the topic touches them. The same group that keeps silent when unproven but serious accusations are leveled at others has become the victim of similar attacks in turn. When the civil society is also silent, the groups that make accusations and slanders have been encouraged.

Actors Harivansh Acharya and Madankrishna Shrestha have been accused of spreading anti-Hindu hatred with the help of the US Development Assistance Mission (USID). Dozens of such accounts are active on Facebook and X, in which unconfirmed allegations are posted of writers, artists and activists taking foreign money to spread religion and culture.

actor Acharya also says that he gets scared when there is unrestrained publicity. People who understand why they have to give an explanation, they say they will stay silent. But when people read such things, they think yes or no. It is feared that the image built up by the 50th year will be damaged. We were not speaking for 15/20 days about the matter that has come up now. When it started to stop, we put our opinion on Facebook," he said.

The process of making accusations by naming the media on social networks has already increased. Especially, Ravi Lamichhane, the founding chairman of RSVP, named media houses, publishers and editors and tagged them as '12 brothers'.

Whatever baseless accusations are made by the leader of such a group, the supporters repeat the same. There is a tendency to make accusations such as anti-country, anti-religious, anti-foreigner without considering the subject of news or expression and the context used there. The accusations that are being spread now seem to be only an elaboration of that trend.

The writer under pressure has to explain one after the other. Neupane, the creator of books like Seto Dharti, Crore Kasturi and Water Sun, had to give an explanation on Facebook. He said that in 2065, the 'Town Writer Residency Program' writing project came from Germany through the then GTZ and he was selected for Dharawasi for Bhaktapur, Bhishma Upreti for Butwal, Seema for Dharan, Prakash Angdambe for Dhangadhi and Nepalgunj. "In that two-month period of writing, we wrote five books independently using our own style and craft," he wrote.

Neupane says, 'It was an important opportunity for me to get the writing skills and write the first book after studying the place. We wrote as creatively as possible. Because, we were free to write the subject, the genre and the whole way.

Writer Sumina said that after confusion spread about the article she was writing and not writing, she received abuse, profanity and threatening messages. "Initially, I remained silent, later I wrote an explanation", she said to Kantipur, "The kind of insults that are coming even to the family, it makes me very disturbed mentally."

author Neupane feels that the trend of making accusations without proof is also due to political culture. He says, 'The tendency to spread hatred and incitement has increased, the impression of the leaders of various parties has fallen on the common people. Allegation is enough. As soon as any topic comes up, we comment without going into depth.

author and activist Sanjeev Upreti says that civil movement should not only be active on the streets but also on social media. "If those who have progressive and liberal ideas start writing on social media, there will be mass resistance," he says. That's why it is necessary to resist collectively.

Baburam Aryal, an expert in cyber law, says that because social media and information technology are easy for everyone, distortions are also seen. "That easy mode has turned into entrepreneurship, freedom of speech or insult," he said, "in case of defamation, legal remedies can be sought according to the section related to insult and insult of the Civil Criminal Code."

Sanjeev Upreti, Writer and Citizen Activist There has been an increase in attacks using pseudonyms on social media. Social media is becoming anti-social, right-wing commentary has become stronger all over the world . Examples have been seen in countries including India and America.

Excitement in the network, enjoyment in society

Attacks on people and organizations who raise the voice of justice are increasing now. They have been accused of being called dollarists. That's why some people are not able to talk about it. But silence is not good for democracy. Have your own opinion. None of us are free to speak by insulting others, depressing others. It violates another person's rights.

I am also being abused on social media. Raising voice about marginalized communities is met with abuse. I am patient. Because how many people are taught what they are doing  They were never taught critical thinking. One type of people move forward with that ideology without thinking about anything else. How many are sponsored.

Civil movement should not only run on the streets, but also on social media. We have to resist in our own way. Collective resistance by progressive minded people is effective. If you don't resist, the people who are spreading hatred with the wrong mentality will establish whatever commentary they want. That's why everyone should speak up and resist.
