The tension created at Kalinga Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneswar, the capital of the Indian state of Odisha, has started to calm down.
From the founder of the college, from the vice-chancellor to the registrar, Nepali students have started to return to the hostel after expressing their sorrow for the situation and asking for forgiveness.
By Tuesday evening, 60 Nepali students have returned to the hostel. SSP Sanjeev Sharma of Nepal Police who reached Odisha from the Nepali Embassy in Delhi said that the situation is normal. The post-mortem of the deceased Prakriti Lamsal's body has been completed. The Odisha police have expressed their commitment to the Nepali team that the investigation of the incident has been started without leaving any stone unturned. Preparations have been made to send the dead student's body to Nepal on Wednesday along with his family members.
The college administration has suspended three employees who insulted Nepali students, kicked them out of the hostel in a humiliating manner and handed over the security guard who beat the students to the police .
SSP Sharma said that all the demands raised by the students have been accepted by the college administration. He said that the college has taken responsibility for the students' academic work, hostel stay and security.
Since most of the students left Odisha and started returning to Nepal by various means from Monday, it seems that it will take time for them to return.
