Congress MP Uday Shamsher Jabara has said that the government should take steps to prevent other students studying abroad from the same incident as happened to Nepali students at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India.
In Tuesday's meeting of the House of Representatives, MP Jabara said that although the government has taken all possible measures after the incident at KIIT University, it must prepare to prevent such incidents from happening elsewhere in the future. He said that the government should also be concerned about the safety of Nepali students in KIIT University.
'More than a thousand Nepali students are studying there. Nepali students are sitting in fear. They are sitting to see if they will be beaten or attacked tomorrow. The government should take initiative to increase their morale and security,' said Jabara, 'this is not the first incident. Such incidents have happened while Nepali students are studying abroad, I would like to request the Nepalese government to prevent such incidents from happening again in the coming days.'
Jabara said that the role played by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba as well as the Nepali Embassy in Delhi was good in the incident at KIIT University. MP Jabara said that the effect of Nepal's diplomatic initiative was seen in the incident at KIIT. After Nepal's diplomatic initiative, the notification has been issued. The university apologized. Suspended three employees, fired two security guards. All Nepali students, students expelled from the hostel have been asked to return. The accused has been arrested,'' said Jabara, 'the role of the embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must be remembered . Good work should be called good. Now it is time to investigate . I want to request the government, not only to investigate, but to conduct an independent investigation . It is necessary for the embassy to follow up on that.'
Jabara also asked the MPs of the opposition party to call the good work done by the government as good. He said that it should not be said that the government did not take any initiative in the incident that happened at KIIT.
