Renowned Indian tabla player Zakir Hussain passes away

Musician and tabla maestro Zakir Hussain passed away at the age of 73 on Sunday evening. According to the Indian media, he died during treatment at a San Francisco hospital in America. He was suffering from liver problems.

As a tabla player, he received the world-famous Grammy Awards in the field of music four times. Tablavadan has been given a global platform with a new identity. He has played instruments in various genres and styles of music in collaboration with Indian and international artists.

He composed music for films like Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer 'Manto' released in 2018, Arpana Sen's 'Mr and Mrs Iyer' in 2002, Dev Patel's 'The Monkey Man' and critically acclaimed 'Vanaprastam'. Had done . He made soundtracks for many films including 'Little Buddha' in 1993. 

He raised his voice for the protection and promotion of Indian classical music. He was honored with Padma Shri in 1988, Padma Bhushan in 2002 and Padma Vibhushan in 2023 by the Government of India. He gave a presentation at a program organized by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu in November 2075.
