The Kathmandu District Public Prosecutor's Office has decided not to pursue a case against Lilabalab Adhikari, a former minister of Koshi province and a member of the provincial assembly, who was arrested on charges of human trafficking.
According to Sandesh Shrestha, head of District Public Prosecutor's Office, Kathmandu, it was decided not to prosecute the officer on 9 different grounds. The Public Prosecutor's Office has decided that the grounds for not proceeding with the case will be clear because the defendant Lilaballabh Adhikari himself informed the Nepal Police about the incident from Narita Airport in Japan. ;.
Similarly, it is mentioned in the decision of the Public Prosecutor's Office that the other defendants did not say anything about the officer's involvement when they testified during the investigation, the officer denied the alleged crime, and the statement of the immediately arrested defendants including Mahesh Pandey did not include the officer's name.
The public prosecutor's office said on the basis of not prosecuting the officer, 'Even in the CCTV footage of the Tribhuvan International Airport where the missile was attached, it was seen that he was riding alone. After leaving the Tribhuvan International Airport for Japan, the WhatsApp messages sent by Mahesh Pandey were not seen and he was arrested after looking at his call details. It does not appear to have been in contact with the defendants.'
According to the basis taken by the public prosecutor's office, it is said, 'When testing the sample with the signature made by Janak Rai, the officer's signature did not even match. Kanchan Devkota also appeared to have met only after he went in transit to Hong Kong.'
