CPN Maoist Center Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has accused the big parties of not being serious about the implementation of the Constitution.
He said that when he was in the government for 18 months, he made every effort to implement the constitution and strengthen federalism, but he could not get results because he did not get the support of the big parties.
Speaking at the session on 'Prachanda Path: Road Ki Satta' under the Kantipur Conclave-2024 organized by Kantipur Media Group on Wednesday, President Dahal admitted that despite the constitution making many provisions regarding people's rights, the people were disappointed due to lack of implementation.
'We said that we will give the rights to the people regarding fundamental rights, federalism and inclusiveness in the constitution. We could not give that to the people. We are not going to implement what is in the constitution honestly, responsibly and seriously," he said, "especially the parties that are numerically present. Those parties were not serious about this matter. My criticism is that they made the Zenten agreement while making the constitution, but were not serious about it when implementing it.
President Dahal said that even though he tried to implement the Police Adjustment Act to the creation of the Civil Service Act when he was the Prime Minister, the parties did not cooperate.
