For 76 days, 11 women, including Ruby Khan, have been on a sit-in at Maitighar Mandla in Kathmandu, demanding that the case of Nirmala Kurmi of Nepalganj be registered in the district court.

Women carrying the symbol of constitution and justice 'scales' walk barefoot from Kalanki every day at 9 in the morning to Maitighar Mandla.

When no one hears their voice, they sometimes knock on the door of the Prime Minister's residence Baluwatar and sometimes they reach the gate of the Singh Darbar. They have been protesting for 76 days after coming from Banke to Kathmandu.

Khan, who is also the president of Women's Rights Manj Banke, is leading the movement. They have been continuously protesting since July 25, 2081, demanding that the case of kidnapping and murder of Kurmi be taken to the court immediately.

According to Khan, there were four agreements with the government till June 10, 2081 and that agreement was not implemented. Khan said that the accused of Nirmala's murder were released on bail and the repeated agreement with the government to register the case in the court was not implemented, so she started protesting continuously.

'We are in continuous movement for the justice of Nirmala Kurmi . The government has agreed with us to deliver justice up to four times. But the matter has not yet gone to court,' she said, 'an inquiry committee was formed under the direction of then Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Home Minister Balkrishna Khan.

Kurmi of Nepalgunj died suspiciously on Chait 14, 2076. After investigating the case of Kurmi's suspicious death and embezzlement of his property, the police investigation report concluded that the main accused Badshah Kurmi should be prosecuted for five offences.

The conclusion of the report was that the police should file a case against Badshah for fraud, criminal treachery, criminal gain, bribery and money laundering.

That is why Khan and other women are constantly protesting to put pressure on the government because the case against Nirmala's murder accused has not gone to court. The report has shown that the accused are guilty,' said Khan, 'why has the case not gone to the court yet? How many years do we have to wait to get justice?'

Not only that, Khan says that the government is not sensitive to the issue of women's murder and it is not easy to get justice. The battle of justice is not easy to fight. But we don't quit . Someone or someone should keep the light of the struggle for justice burning," says Khan, "The fight for justice in Nepal is like chewing on an iron chin. Now we are chewing on the same chip. According to

Khan, their demand is to register a case in the court and preserve the evidence of the murder. But even though they protested many times, he alleged that the government did not show sensitivity to the issue.

They are constantly on the streets to give justice to Nirmala.  On the one hand, the government is working to agree with the protestors and run away from it . But Ruby says that she hopes that one day the government will bring justice.

'No one is above the law . When the case against the former home minister is also going on, the law does not touch the murderer of Nirmala Kurmi," said Ruby. That's why we are not tired of justice.'

Badshah, the main accused in Nirmala's murder and property embezzlement case, was made the minister of Lumbini province by the Congress on July 9. He was forced to resign from the post of minister on August 26 after women's rights activists strongly protested that the accused of murder had been made a minister. Badshah, accused of

murder, is the leader of the current ruling party Congress. Ruby says that Badshah is not allowing the case to go to court under the guise of power. The accused belongs to the ruling party. Killing justice while belonging to the ruling party," Ruby said, "will protect the ruling party while leaving the accused open?'

2066 Nirmala's husband Mahalu Kurmi died prematurely in Kartik. After that, Nirmala, who was living with her two sons, 18-year-old Ramsagar and 14-year-old Suresh, died in 2068. After her death, the gang was active to grab Nirmala's house and 4 bigha land.

Nirmala filed a complaint with the district administration on October 30, 2068 saying that she was unsafe. The police did not listen to the complaint and after 2075 she suddenly became uncontactable from the village. On 14th Chait 2076, suspicious information about his death in India reached the police.

After that, on 20th of Chait 2077, the locals along with Khan lodged a complaint against Congress leader Badshah Kurmi, Ramesh Thapa, Parvati Bista, Krishnamurari Singh, Babansingh Thakuri, Urmila Kanojia, Amarlal Kurmi and Dhirendra Singh at the District Police Office Banke. Based on that complaint, after the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, a report was prepared to investigate 8 people including Kurmi. But after the recommendation was not implemented, Khan said that she started a movement for Nirmala's justice.

Not only that, on Chait 20, 2077, Mankumari Gupta, a member of Mahila Adhikar Manch Banke, filed a complaint against Congress leader Badshah and others on the suspicion of Nirmala's murder. Based on the same complaint, Ruwi said that the accused is now trying to implicate Mankumari, her husband and Jethani in a false case and the relatives of the protestors are also receiving threats.

"We are trying to implicate the relatives of the protestors in a false case". Manakumari's brother-in-law, the person who filed a complaint against Nirmala, was prosecuted for murder. While he is innocent, Ruwi said, there is no evidence. But he was prosecuted. The main accused has again started bargaining with the Mankumaris. To withdraw the complaint or not? If you don't take it, take it, otherwise we will trap your husband as well . How long will we endure torture?'

Even among all these, their stand is to continue until justice is done.
