As attractive as multilateral diplomacy sounds in itself, its implementation is equally challenging. Three young leaders have come as representatives from Nepal to the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) this time to understand multilateral diplomacy and its environment and share their experiences.

Among them are Bharat Joshi, Chief of Parshuram Municipality, Sunita Dangol, Deputy Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality and Abdus Mian, the youth leader of UML.

Nepali youth representatives have done the work of keeping curiosity, learning and also telling their experience to the representatives of other countries in the multilateral diplomatic fair. On the eve of the 'Summit of the Future', the two-day 'Action Days' program started on Friday at the main meeting hall of the UN headquarters. At the event, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres spoke about the importance and effectiveness of youth.

In the discussion in the assembly hall, Secretary General Guterres said, "Power is not given by others, it is taken by oneself." He made this statement targeting the youth. The young people from more than 150 countries present in the hall praised it. Nepali youth representatives also supported the general secretary's statement.

Deputy Chief Dangol, who came to participate in the UN program for the first time, said that she found that youths all over the world have the same problem, except for some exceptions. "What I found when listening to the experiences of other countries in the world is that there are problems of almost the same tendency among young people all over the world. It is said that the access of youth to the decision-making level is weak. Listening to the experience of other countries, the youth of Nepal are not behind. I felt that we are walking on the right path,” she told Kantipur.

Deputy Chief Dangol said she was happy to hear that Secretary-General Guterres said that youth should lead and that it is needed today. "Also, I found it very inspiring that the Secretary General said that I would choose a world where the youth play a role," she said. She mentioned that the 'Summit of the Future' that the UN is going to carry out will be important and added, 'This document will not be like any other. This document is based on implementation. Dangol also said that the 'Global Digital Compact' will play an important role in inclusiveness. Another young representative, Mayor Joshi, who participated in the

program and visited the UN headquarters, mentioned that he will apply the good things he learned in New York to his country and municipality. Also, he made it clear that he will inform the world community about Nepal. Climate change is now the most important issue in the world. Due to this, Nepal is facing huge losses. It is affecting my municipality as well," he said. "Nepal is in the list of countries with the lowest

carbon emissions in the world. But we are suffering from climate change. Now we raise the voice that Nepal should be compensated by other countries.'

Similarly, another young leader Mian responded that the opening session of the working days of the 'Summit of the Future' was interesting. Secretary General Guterres mentioned that he sat down with the youth and discussed the future for whom, whose world, what kind of world, and mentioned that it can be seen in connection with leadership change and other aspects. He added, 'A Himalayan country like Nepal has to face many problems due to climate change. It is necessary to explain that it affects not only Nepal, but the world as well. He said that the new generation should also be informed about it.
