Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli arrived in New York on Friday night local time, leading a 22-member Nepalese delegation to participate in the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) and the Summit of the Future.
Prime Minister Oli was welcomed at the John F. Kennedy Airport by Lok Bahadur Thapa, Nepali Representative to the United Nations in New York, Kaushal Kishore Rai, Deputy Head of Mission, Kumar Kharel, Acting Ambassador to America, Chakra Subedi, Head of the Nepali Consulate General in New York.
During his stay in the United States, including the Summit of the Future, Oli will address 7 programs and will have more than a dozen sideline meetings and interactions with the Nepali community.
The Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have completed all homework through the Nepali Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said in the United Nations Four important programs will be addressed during the visit of the Mahasabha. According to Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to address the Summit of the Future, the high-level discussion of the 79th General Assembly, the high-level session on 'Antimicrobial Resistance' and the high-level session on 'Sea Level Rise'. In addition, in New York, there is a program to address parliamentarians from different countries on "Financing the Future in connection with the Paris Agreement".
Oli will address the Summit of the Future on October 7. Prime Minister Oli has also scheduled a meeting with United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres. Oli will meet Secretary General Guterres on the second day of his arrival and will address the General Assembly on October 10.
Apart from the United Nations, Oli will address the topic of 'Nepal's Journey to Democracy and Economic Prosperity' at Columbia University in New York on October 7, while he is scheduled to address the issue of 'Nepal's Approach from Transitional Justice to Climate Justice' at Harvard University in Boston on October 11.
