Finally, it has been decided to meet in New York between the Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi during the 79th United Nations General Assembly on the sidelines.
Although Nepal proposed for a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Modi on the sidelines in New York some time ago, there was no positive response from New Delhi.
But a few hours before Nepal's Prime Minister Oli landed in New York on Friday night, the Indian side gave a message prepared for Modi's bilateral meeting.
According to foreign sources, a message has been received from the Indian side that a meeting between the two Prime Ministers may take place on Friday, even though homework has been on the sidelines for a long time . According to local time, Oli and Modi will have a bilateral meeting on the sidelines on Sunday. "If there is nothing else, it is confirmed that there will be a meeting," said the source.
After Oli became the Prime Minister for the fourth time, he will have his first meeting with Indian Prime Minister Modi.
After the meeting with Modi, the Nepali side has also done the necessary homework for that.
The Nepali side took initiatives from various levels to arrange a meeting between the two Prime Ministers. Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba, the Nepalese representative to the United Nations in New York, Lok Bahadur Thapa, and the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi were also mobilized. Prime Minister Oli instructed Minister Rana for the sideline meeting and asked the ministry to work.
Mahasabha has started from August 25. The high-level discussion of the Mahasabha will be held from October 8 to 12. Prime Minister Oli has arrived in New York leading a 22 member delegation of Nepal.
This time on October 7 and 8, there is a 'Summit of the Future' program organized by the United Nations. There is also a program to be addressed by Oli. For that, the Action Day of the Summit of the Future has already started from Friday. The Prime Minister of India, Modi, is going to come to New York only to participate in the Summit of the Future program and give a speech.
Modi has come to Wilmington, USA on Friday to participate in the meeting of four countries organization Quad (America, India, Japan and Australia). He is going to come to New York from there. He will come to New York on Monday and return to India on Saturday evening.
Oli and Modi were scheduled to meet on the sidelines during the sixth summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) scheduled to be held in Thailand earlier. The Indian side also participated in the meeting. But the conference scheduled to be held on August 18 and 19 was postponed due to new political ups and downs in Thailand. After that, it will be possible to meet in New York.
When Oli was the Prime Minister for the first and second time, he started traveling abroad from visiting India. But for the third time, he was the Prime Minister for only three months and did not visit any country.
Oli became the Prime Minister for the first time in 2072, the second time in 2074 and the third time in 2078. After becoming the Prime Minister for the fourth time, Oli's foreign visit will be from the General Assembly in New York.
After Oli became the Prime Minister this time, there has been no invitation from the Indian side for a formal visit. But Oli said that during Foreign Minister Rana's visit to India, Modi had been formally invited to visit Nepal.
