After the death of Lalu Prasad Yadav of Rajgarh rural municipality-2 Kamalpur of Saptari due to police firing, the protest started by the locals on Wednesday has been suspended.

The protest was suspended after five points were agreed upon at the all-party meeting held at the district administration office on Thursday. In the meeting presided over by Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal, condolence was paid to the deceased, and it was agreed to request the concerned body to form a high-level committee to investigate the incident and provide compensation according to the report of the committee.

It has been agreed to request the taluk body to remove Inspector Virendra Kumar Yadav, who is leading the police force assigned for 'search' and seizure, from responsibility until the incident is investigated. Prazia Dahal said that it has been agreed that the protesting party will postpone all the programs of the protest and perform the last rites with the understanding of the family members/protesting parties.

Yadav, who is also the chairman of the management committee of the local school, was shot dead by the police who came to control smuggling on Tuesday night based on confidential information. After the incident, relatives and locals demonstrated in Rajviraj throughout the day on Wednesday, and the Sangharsh Committee formed in the evening gave a 24-hour ultimatum to address the demand and warned of more protests.
