None of the candidates who contested the House of Representatives member election held in Dhankuta have yet submitted details of their election expenses to the District Election Office.

According to Suraj Shrestha, Information Officer of the District Election Office, Dhankuta, although there is a legal provision that candidates must submit details of all expenses incurred in the election to the office within 30 days of the date of the announcement of the election results, no one has submitted an official statement of their expenses till Wednesday. Shrestha said that some candidates have taken verbal advice to submit their expense details. According to him, Uttam Shakhakarmi, who came to Dhankuta from Bhaktapur and filed his candidacy from the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, has verbally informed that he did not spend any money in the election.

In Dhankuta, 17 candidates from various political parties including Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Nepal Communist Party, Shram Sanskriti Party were in the fray for the House of Representatives member election. However, none of them have submitted details of the expenses incurred by the candidates and the party in the election to the District Election Office so far.

According to the provisions of the Election Commission, candidates must submit details of all expenses incurred under the headings of election campaign, meetings, transportation, publicity materials, office operations, etc. in a prescribed format. The Election Office has stated that there is a legal provision that if the details of expenses are not submitted within the prescribed time, a fine will be imposed and the process of becoming a candidate in future elections will also be affected.

The District Election Office, Dhankuta has urged candidates to submit details of expenses within the prescribed time limit.
