Biratnagar – Winning from Jhapa-4, Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) candidate Shambhu Prasad Dhakal has taken his first step towards the Parliament building. After serving in the Nepal Police for a long time, Dhakal, who has been active in the social, literary and political fields, has achieved a decisive victory this time, leaving behind old figures from Nepal Congress and UML.
Rival Lal Prasad Sawa Limbu of UML was defeated by a huge margin this time. Dhakal got 43,631 votes, while Sawa was reduced to 11,986 votes. Deuman Thebe of Congress got 9,434 votes. Amrita Devi Rai of Shram Sanskriti Party came fourth with 7,161 votes.
Dhakal had secured third place from Jhapa-4 in the 2079 House of Representatives election with 14,079 votes. At that time, the winner Lal Prasad Sawa Limbu of UML got 29,315 votes and the second place went to Thebe of Congress, who got 22,448 votes. The first defeat had strengthened him in political strategy, public support and campaigning. This clear and decisive victory has proven his patience, experience and direct contact with the people.
