Lakhenach has started from Tuesday in Sankhuwasabha, Bhojpur, Tehrathum, Taplejung, Dhankuta and other districts of the east, where Newar community is in majority since the day of Nag Panchami.

According to Newar culture and tradition, lakhs are extracted from Nagpanchami by offering puja and sagun at Bhimsen temple. Lakhenach has been formally started from Khandbari in Sankhuwasabha and Bhimsen temple in Chainpur.

Under the leadership of Newa Dey Dabu Sankhuwasabha, as usual, Lakhenach has been started in commercial centers such as Khandbari, Chainpur, Sibhuwa, Tumlingtar. The day of Lakhe Krishna Janmashtami ends with a ritual dance performance at the Bhimsen temple. This year, Neva Deya Dabu has made arrangements to allow lakhs of people to dance only by registering.

Only Newar community groups and organizations or individuals residing in Sankhuwasabha have been requested to participate in Lakhenach. According to Khandbari Nagar President Pushpa Bahadur Shrestha, it is compulsory to be listed in Neva Deya Dabu to dance. "It is not allowed to carry out drunk driving in Lakhenacht," he said.

'Lakhe is connected with the culture of the Newar community,' says Sita Shakya, president of Newa Dey Dabu Sankhuwasabha, 'Lakhenach cannot be presented from other classes or communities.'
