Due to flood, four wheeler vehicles have come into operation from Dhankuta Mulghat of Awarud Tamor Corridor to Fidim section of Panchthar. Along with the incessant rains that occurred from October 9 to 12, the road could not be operated due to floods and landslides in the Nawa River that separates Dhanukta and Panchthar.
Meanwhile, a four-wheeled vehicle has been made to cross the river by using an excavator in the Nawa river.
With the widening of the river and making it possible for vehicles to cross, the vehicles coming from Mulghat in Dhankuta to Fidim in Panchthar and going there from Fidim through Damak, Itahari, Biratnagar and Dharan have started moving from Sunday morning.
Tamor Corridor project chief Pradeep Niraula said that two-wheeled vehicles including motorcycles cannot be brought through this road immediately.
"Since the amount of water is significant, it is not possible to save it now, after it subsides, it may be easier," he said.
As soon as the Tamor Corridor was put into operation, the tankers which came with petroleum products via Dharan reached Fidim of Panchthar on Sunday morning.
Although the Dhankuta Panchthar section has been opened, the obstruction of the Panchthar-Taplejung section remains the same. In the same section of the road, the flood has destroyed the road in the Hewa River, and the movement has been stopped due to the collapse of the Belybridge of the Hewa River.
