The struggle of the direct Deuda and Dohori singer Sangeeta Baduwal is not easy. Her childhood was normal. Due to the poor financial condition of the family, she always felt that she could earn money. Her mother was the only one who encouraged her to fulfill her dreams.

She loved to sing, dance and participate in every program in school since she was a child. Everyone praised her voice. She had dreamed of becoming an artist since that time.

At that time, she used to sing songs in various festivals and weddings in the village. She did not want to be limited to programs in the village. Her desire was to come to Kathmandu and enter the art field. But due to her financial situation, she did not tell anyone about her dream. But she used to dream. She said, ‘My mother had reminded me that when I went to Kathmandu to sing, I would not only save money on my house expenses but also get the opportunity to sing various songs.’

Then she took the courage and came to Kathmandu with the dream of singing. She said that her mother also came along to make her dream come true.

For some time after coming to Kathmandu, she did not get the opportunity she had expected. But gradually she got the opportunity to sing live Deuda. After Sangeeta, who had sung live Deuda and Dohori for three years, she gradually started getting offers for songs. ‘Galbandika Tala’ was her first song recording. She was loved by the audience in the country and abroad. After that, she kept getting opportunities. She sang songs like Saali Bhena, Nabole Pir Laakka, Hamta Sirani, Laija Rumal, Kanchhi Saali. Which are very popular.

Sangeeta adding originality to Deuda She has lent her voice to more than 50 songs so far. Similarly, she has sung more than 500 live Deuda songs. ‘I have got many opportunities because of Live Deuda. That is why Deuda songs are my identity,’ she says, who has gone to various places in India to sing Deuda. ‘I am happy to see that many people love Deuda, songs and music even outside Nepal.’

A native of Dailekh Aathbis Municipality-3, she is still struggling in the musical field with her mother in Kathmandu. Sangeeta still sings Deuda live. She said that she has a vision of preserving her language and culture. Just as she is introducing Deuda to the country through songs, she seems equally committed to the campaign to preserve her language, culture and identity. ‘Deuda is our originality, it is our responsibility to preserve it,’ she says.

She has been continuously performing Deuda live for about 7 years. She has been performing at fairs, festivals, cultural programs and various public events in various parts of the country. She has been receiving invitations to perform, especially from the Far West and Karnali regions. ‘People also come from other parts of the country.’ But because of Deuda, the most invitations come from that region,’ she said.

Sangeeta, who loves struggle, continuity and culture, is moving forward in Deuda, creating her own identity. She said that she will continue to strive to bring the music of her village to the world in the coming days.
