Rabies is a deadly contagious disease. If not treated in time, it can even lead to death. It is caused by the bite of animals such as dogs and cats.
Therefore, all dogs and cats over three months of age should be vaccinated against rabies annually at the nearest veterinary clinic and animal service center. It can prevent and save from rabies . There is no cure for rabies, but it can be easily avoided if vaccinated in time.
According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), more than 100 people die from rabies annually. 95 percent of them get rabies from dog bites. The remaining rabies is transmitted by the bite of animals such as foxes, wolves, and monkeys. According to EDCD statistics, about 3 lakh people are affected by animal bites, including dogs, every year.
After being bitten by any dog or suspicious animal, immediately wash the bitten area with soapy water for 15 minutes. After that as soon as possible Contact the nearest health institution for necessary advice and treatment. Any dog or animal bite may not require vaccination.
Conditions to be vaccinated

Situations that do not require vaccination

- if there is no wound when feeding the animal with a hand in the mouth.
- If the patient eats lice before the symptoms of the disease appear.
– If you drink the milk of an animal with rabies.

The vaccine against rabies is given intradermally and intravenously. If given intradermally, 3 doses are applied . The first is administered as soon as possible after the dog and animal bite, the second on the third day after the first vaccination, the third on the seventh day after the first vaccination . If the person is bitten again, 2 doses should be administered after 3 months . The first as soon as possible after dog and animal bites and the second on the third day after the first vaccination .
The vaccine injected into the meat is administered in total of 4 doses . The first is administered as soon as possible after the dog and animal bite, the second on the third day after the first vaccination, the third on the seventh day after the first vaccination, the fourth on the fourteenth day after the first vaccination .
After three months, if bitten by dogs and animals again, 2 doses should be applied . As soon as possible after the first dog and animal bite, the second on the third day after the first vaccination .
After injecting the vaccine into the skin, the area should not be massaged and rubbed. Symptoms such as pain, redness, itching, swelling, headache, and fever may appear at the injection site after vaccination.
All these are the effects of the vaccine . Which is temporary, after some time it will heal itself . Drug treatment is rarely needed.
