The District Administration Office, Gorkha, has urged tourists trekking in the Manaslu region to remain vigilant. The administration has issued a public notice urging tourists to stay in safe places and not to trek until the weather improves.
Snowfall has started in the northern region of Gorkha since Monday night. Nima Lama, the chairman of Chumanubri Rural Municipality, said that snowfall has occurred in areas including Samagaun, Lho, Chekampar. ‘It started snowing at 11 pm last night, and it is still snowing,’ he said.
The snowfall in the northern region has affected the travel of tourists going on Manaslu treks. Since it is the tourist season, more than 150 tourists are currently visiting the area daily. ‘There is a record of 198 tourists visiting the Manaslu region on Kartik 10 alone, now it is the season to visit Manaslu,’ said Santosh Sherchan, head of the Manaslu Conservation Area (MCAP), ‘Although there has been snowfall since last night, there has been no information about tourists facing any problems, we are also aware that tourists have not faced any problems in the area up to Dharamshala.’
With the snowfall in the northern region, normal life has been affected. The winter has intensified with the snowfall.
