The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) on Monday sought clarification from the Nepal Airlines Corporation regarding the outstanding payments for the engine lease (rent) made with the Israeli company Israel Aerospace Industries Limited (IAI).

In a letter sent by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the Flight Safety Standards Division has directed the corporation to submit a clear response within three days regarding the details of the payment of Rs 424 million related to engine rental taken through the MRO Service Division.

According to the letter signed by Ritesh Raj Pant, Chief Engineer of the Flight Safety Standards Division, Shimon Pritas, a representative of the Israeli company, informed the company through an email sent on October 22, 2025, that the company had not returned the leased engine.

NEA seeks clarification from Corporation regarding engine lease payments

The authority has requested the corporation to submit a clarification with clear details and documents regarding the payment, agreement and the condition of the engine from a technical and financial perspective. A copy of the email has also been sent to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and high-ranking officials of the authority for further monitoring and review in this regard.
