Aiming to end forced foreign employment, the government has declared the next decade (2025-2035) as the domestic employment promotion decade. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced the Employment Promotion Decade today at the opening session of the 'National Labor and Employment Conference-2081' organized by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security.

Meanwhile, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the government and various 10 private sector umbrella organizations for job creation and training for youth. At the

ceremony, an agreement was signed between National Skill Development Institute and Computer Association Federation (CAN), Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), Nepal Construction Industry Association, NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA), Nepal Readymade Garment Industry Association, Grill and Steel Industry Association, Nepal Gold and Silver Industry Association, Acor International Training Pvt. Ltd., Global Qualification and Motherland Skill Academy. 

On the same occasion, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Swiss Agency for the expansion of the integrated labor market information system under the Prime Minister's Employment Program. Addressing the conference, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that the private sector has extraordinary importance in creating jobs.

Mentioning that job creation and promoting entrepreneurship are the highest priorities of the government, he emphasized that the country's economy should be led by the private sector. Labor, Employment and Social Security Minister Sharatsingh Bhandari said that the government's plan is to create employment opportunities for the labor force coming to the labor market every year and to make foreign employment dignified, orderly and safe. 

Industry, Commerce and Supply Minister Damodar Bhandari clarified that the government's policy is to encourage the private sector, noting that the private sector has contributed to the growth of the country's economy even though it bears the risk.

Prime Minister's Economic and Development Adviser Dr. Yuvraj Khatiwada said that the government's vision is to end forced foreign employment, export competitive skilled manpower in the international labor market, ensure social security in bilateral labor agreements and end forced foreign employment. 

President of Nepal Confederation of Industry and Commerce Chandra Prasad Dhakal emphasized that the policy ambiguities that discourage the private sector should be removed immediately. "When the private sector can confidently increase entrepreneurship, only then can employment opportunities be created," he said.

Joint Trade Union Coordinating Center (JTUCC) President Jagat Singkha said that an environment of good labor relations should be created by increasing the minimum wage of workers, effective implementation of social security plan and repealing the anti-labor provisions of the Labor Act.  

In the two-day conference, there will be collective discussions on the identification and promotion of potential areas for internal job creation, the development and expansion of employment services and facilities in Nepal, the various aspects of labor migration management, the potential of Nepal in the development of information technology and job creation, the use of foreign employment knowledge, skills and capital in production and productivity enhancement. 

Earlier, the government organized labor and employment conferences in the years 2054, 2061, 2069 and 2076.
