Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that there is a huge potential for investment in Nepal and urged investors from all over the world to expand their investment. Addressing the opening ceremony of the third investment conference, President Dhakal said that Nepal has investment potential in most areas and said that Nepal can become a new investment destination.
He said that due to Nepal's strategic location between China and India, which is a big economy in the world, Nepal can take advantage of the market, tourism and development of these two countries.
Mentioning that Nepal is becoming a comfortable environment for investment, he told about two thousand investors gathered from all over the world that there is a possibility of investment in tourism, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, information technology and other sectors in Nepal.
Recalling the long-term electricity trade agreement concluded between the government of Nepal and the government of India, he said that it will make Nepal's vast energy potential accessible to the market.
He mentioned that the electricity trade agreement with another neighboring country, Bangladesh, is in the final stage.
Nepal's cultural heritage, natural beauty, youth and energetic manpower can also be properly benefited by investing in tourism, agriculture and information technology infrastructure development in Nepal.
Another important and promising area is the production of skilled manpower. For this, it is necessary to establish a high-level technical school in Nepal which will not only solve the shortage of skilled labor force in Nepal,' he said.
Referring to the fact that the Nepal government has recently amended some of the old laws that are considered to be obstacles to investment through an ordinance, he also said that the Nepal government is committed to creating an investment-friendly environment in the country in cooperation with the federation.
The Bilateral Investment (BIA) framework has been prepared and passed by the Council of Ministers at the initiative of the Federation. This will also help in the security of foreign investment and the creation of an investment environment," he said.
Noting that the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry is constantly taking initiatives to bring in investment and create an investment environment in Maluk, President Dhakal said that the Federation recently organized business summits in New Delhi, China, and Dubai, UAE.
The federation is ready to facilitate any investor in Nepal and also said that Nepali investors are ready to partner with foreign investors in any field of investment in Nepal.
He said that it is necessary not only to bring in foreign investment capital and technology, but also to increase the revenue, create jobs and increase the production within the country to advance the country on the journey of economic development and prosperity.
