It has been found that the crusher industries operating in the district have evaded revenue in large amounts. It has been found that the crushers operating around Tamakosi River do not pay income tax and hide details to evade value added tax (VAT).
On Sunday, the Internal Revenue Office, in collaboration with the police, seized nine tippers carrying Roda sand that had not paid income tax and evaded VAT at Bhimeshwar Municipality-5 Kiranti. Out of which 7 tippers have been cut VAT bill from the same crusher, but the details have not been filled in the revenue office .
Similarly, it has been found that illegal VAT bill was deducted from the crusher industry which was suspended after evading income tax and VAT . There is a rule that crusher industries have to file purchase and sale details for tax filing by the 25th on a monthly and quarterly basis according to the number of transactions.
But the crushers operating in the district have not filled the details for almost 6 months . It was found that 7 of the 9 tippers seized by the police on Sunday had not been filed in the Internal Revenue Office after the VAT bill was deducted from the Mahakali Construction and Plant Giti Sand Industry.
Bimal Kumar Paudel, the head of office Charikot, said that the VAT bill was also seized from the said industry. According to him, it has been found that 4 thousand 280 bills have been cut by the industry for almost 6 months without filling the VAT details. He said that even though so many bills have been deducted, the details have not been filled.
Another Malepu Roda stone industry has cut 2 thousand 416 VAT bills but it has been found that the details have not been filled anywhere, he said.
Similarly, another blacklisted and suspended Jaldevi Crusher & Suppliers has been found to have cut an illegal bill of VAT . Crushers are operating illegally without registration in the district without meeting the standards.
The district coordination committee, district administration and local level were allowed to operate under the condition of filing income tax and VAT by bringing it under the scope of taxation in order to avoid lack of materials for development construction. But the crusher industry has not paid the income tax and has not filled the VAT statement. Chief Paudel said, "It was found that the bill of value addition was cut and sold to evade revenue, but the details were not filled in the revenue office. This is tax fraud. After not filling the details, it is not visible how many bills have been cut. There is a basis that they may have cheated by hiding the details or cutting a fake VAT bill." There are 22 crusher industries in the district. Some of them have been closed . According to the Internal Revenue Office Charikot, it is difficult to collect more than 10 million from the crusher industry, which is supposed to raise more than 30 million annually. "It is seen that tax evasion is being done every year by cutting the VAT bill and not filling in the details," he said, "The intention of the crusher industries to cheat a large amount of money by hiding the details is clear."
It has also been revealed that the local level made the crusher industries participate in the bidding without tax payment certificates. It is found that the local level allows participants to participate without tax payment even though they can participate in the bidding for river mining only after all taxes have been paid. Although the Internal Revenue Office has repeatedly written to the local level not to pay the crushers who have not paid the income tax and VAT details and not to participate in the tender, the local level has ignored them .
'We have written many times to the local level to pay and participate in the bidding for such crushers only those who have paid tax and added value,' said Chief Paudel, but due to the local level's neglect, the target revenue has not been raised.'
Chief District Officer Shivram Gela said that the seized tipper carrying gravel and sand from the crusher should be released after coordinating with the crusher. "I have told the Internal Revenue Office to coordinate how much revenue to collect from the crushers," he said, "we have seized them after they requested to collect the revenue from the crushers." He said that a tipper was suspicious because he came with the bill of a suspended crusher.
