The road near Sunkoshi rural municipality-7 Kandhungri of Khurkot-Nepalthok section under the BP highway collapsed on Sunday morning. About 50 meters of the road has been washed away by the Sunkoshi river.
According to SP Govindaraj Kafle, head of District Police Office, Sindhuli, traffic could be operated from the flooded road area till Saturday evening.
When Sunkoshi came to the side, a danger signal was placed. SP Kafle said that even the black-covered road was completely washed away and it was not possible for vehicles to cross. The road near the Sunkoshi-Marin diversion tunnel has collapsed.
The Khurkot-Mulkot road was brought into operation by the police, army and locals till Saturday evening. Khurkot-Mulkot road will also be blocked until the flow of Sunkoshi subsides.
Nepalthok-Khurkot section of Nepaltok-Khurkot section has been cleared by the police since Saturday with the help of machines. Police said that in the area where the Roshi River has completely washed away 60 meters of the road near Nepalthok, construction of the temporary road will begin only after the flood recedes. Chief District Officer Leela Prasad Sharma said that the issue of opening the track road to bring the BP highway into operation is also being discussed.
