Shahid Dasharath Chand University of Health Sciences has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor and Registrar.

The University Assembly appointed Prof. Dr. Sunil Kumar Joshi as Vice-Chancellor and Dr. Bhim Bahadur Chand as Registrar today.

Earlier, the coordinator of the recommendation committee, Prof. Dr. Jayaraj Awasthi, had submitted a report with the merit list to the University Assembly through the Pro-Chancellor, Minister for Education and Sports, Sasmit Pokharel.

Joshi, who was relieved of his post due to an ordinance brought by the Balendra Shah-led government, has been reappointed as Vice-Chancellor. Last year, in Poush, the University Assembly appointed Professor Dr. Sunil Kumar Joshi as Vice-Chancellor and Khemraj Joshi as Registrar.

The government has given approval to operate Geta Hospital as a teaching hospital. The cabinet meeting held on Asad 24 has decided to approve the operation of Geta Hospital as a teaching hospital of Shaheed Dasharath Chand University of Health Sciences.

The hospital was built in Geta, Kailali at a cost of about 7 billion rupees with the aim of teaching medical education along with a 600-bed hospital.

Amidst the long confusion over what to build as a medical college, institute or university, the government has decided to establish Shaheed Dasharath Chand University of Health Sciences in Geta and enacted an act.

The university had already started the process of appointing 26 professors and 51 associate professors on contract service for academic manpower in the month of Falgun. Under which, the process of filling up the posts of human resources in subjects including physiology, pathology, ENT, general surgery, anesthesiology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, medical education, pharmacology and others had started.
