Social activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his hunger strike after 26 days. He announced via social media platform X that he broke his fast in the presence of Union Minister J.P. Nadda, Dr. Jitendra Singh, and senior leaders of the Leh–Ladakh Apex Body.
According to Wangchuk, earlier, 65 Members of Parliament from various political parties had written letters urging him to end his hunger strike. He stated that the decision to end the strike was made after lengthy discussions, agreement on certain conditions, and considering the potential risk of violence in the country.
He said he would soon provide detailed information about those conditions through a separate video, and urged everyone to prevent any kind of violence and to remain vigilant on this issue.
Students have been protesting at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for the past month against the NEET–UG question paper leak. The protesters have been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In support of this demand, Wangchuk had been on hunger strike for the past 26 days.
