The police have arrested leaders including Rahul Gandhi, the leader of India's main opposition party and Congress MP. The police have arrested Gandhi and other leaders who were sitting on a dharna in front of the Prime Minister's residence on Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi on Tuesday.

During Monday's protest, senior leaders including Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge sat on a dharna, accusing the government of brutally suppressing students. Similarly, the police have also arrested leaders including Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and MP Dimple Yadav who were on the dharna.

Gandhi had also written on the social media X, 'We have marched towards Prime Minister Modi's residence to demand an answer for the brutal repression carried out on young students yesterday. The government neither wants to take responsibility for this, nor is it ready to discuss this issue in Parliament. The Prime Minister and Home Minister who are ruining the future of India's youth should resign.'

The Congress has posted a video of Gandhi being dragged while being arrested on social media. Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala has said that the government has resorted to repression, hooliganism and tear gas against the students. He said, 'Today, Congress workers including Rahul Gandhi surrounded the Prime Minister's residence in protest against the same repression. If Prime Minister Narendra Modi thinks that the kind of torture being inflicted will silence the voices of the students, then he is delusional. Because this is the beginning of a new revolution.'
