The Delhi High Court has directed that the health condition of Sonam Wangchuk be checked every day. On Thursday, the court issued a directive to the central government asking doctors to check the health of environmental activist Wangchuk every day. The court also asked the government to arrange for any kind of treatment if necessary in view of her deteriorating condition. A bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tejas Kariya of the high court gave the directive to the central government while hearing a public petition. The petition demanded immediate treatment for Wangchuk. According to ‘Live Law’, the court said, ‘The life of every citizen is precious and the government must make every effort to save it.’ Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the central government, expressed confidence that government doctors and medical experts are continuously monitoring Wangchuk’s health condition. Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike since June 28. According to doctors, Wangchuk has lost more than 9 kilograms by the 19th day of his fast. However, his body water level is said to be stable.
