During the funeral of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, participants chanted slogans calling for the killing of Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

US President Donald Trump has said that 1,000 missiles have been placed on standby to strike Iran. He warned that if there is an attempt to assassinate him, thousands more missiles would be launched at Iran.
"1,000 missiles are locked and loaded, targeted at Iran. If the Iranian government tries to assassinate me—as they have claimed in many parts of the world—thousands more missiles will be launched immediately. Orders have already been given, and the US military is ready, willing, and able to completely destroy and annihilate all regions of Iran," Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
During the funeral of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, participants chanted slogans calling for the killing of Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Similarly, speaking to journalists at the NATO summit held in Ankara, Turkey, on Wednesday, Trump claimed that Iran had plotted to assassinate him. "I am number one on Iran's kill list. I am on every one of their lists. I just saw this morning that I am on each of their lists. And so far, I think I have been a little lucky, but maybe this situation won't last very long," he said.
US media have also given priority to reports that Iran has plotted to assassinate Trump. According to an article published Thursday in The Wall Street Journal, Israeli intelligence had informed Trump about this plot.
Citing individuals familiar with the matter, the article states, "Israeli officials warned the US about a new threat against the president. In their view, this is a threat that will further escalate the already existing tensions between Iran and the US."
CNN, also citing two sources, reported that Israel had informed Trump about the assassination risk. In a conversation with CNN, a US official said, "This new Israeli intelligence may also be an attempt to influence Trump's thinking. Because, at present, Trump is considering whether or not to increase US military action against Iran."
Some time ago, tensions arose between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump over the issue of the interim agreement. They also had an unforgettable phone conversation. In that conversation, Trump scolded Netanyahu for launching an unnecessary attack on Lebanon. He even called Netanyahu "crazy."
After signing an interim agreement to end the war on June 17, Iran and the US have been engaged in attacks and counterattacks for the past week. As a result, this interim agreement is now in crisis.
Trump has claimed that the ceasefire with Iran has ended. However, he also said that since Iran has shown willingness for talks, discussions will take place in a new phase.
Senior US officials have demanded that Iran publicly commit to keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and not attacking ships passing through this waterway. Iran, for its part, has reiterated its longstanding position that it should be allowed to collect fees from ships passing through Hormuz and that the administrative management of those ships should be handled by the Revolutionary Guards Corps.
Before the war, more than 20 percent of the world's crude oil and natural gas used to exit West Asia via Hormuz. As soon as the war began, Iran's blockade in the region triggered a global fuel crisis.
Trump repeatedly targeted
US President Donald Trump has been targeted at least five times. Most recently, on April 25, 2026, during a dinner event organized by the White House Correspondents' Association, a person opened fire.
President Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and cabinet members were present at the event. After the shooting, they were rescued by Secret Service agents. The shooter was taken into custody by police.
In September 2024, while playing golf in West Palm Beach, Florida, a person attempted to assassinate Trump. However, the attempt failed. The individual fled, leaving behind a rifle, and was arrested by police the same day.
In July 2024, shots were fired at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. While Trump was delivering a speech, he was targeted and shot. The bullet struck the upper part of his ear, and he was injured.
Blood flowed from his ear. The 20-year-old gunmen involved in the assassination attempt were shot and killed on the spot by Secret Service agents. Trump was safely evacuated from the stage. One rally participant was killed and two others were injured in the incident.
A 20-year-old British man was sentenced to prison after attempting to grab a police officer's gun at a rally held in a Las Vegas casino. In his statement, the individual said he had driven to the event with the intention of killing then-Republican candidate (Trump).
