More than 76,000 Afghan refugees have returned home from neighboring Iran and Pakistan in June. Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Afghan government, said that 76,181 Afghan citizens have returned home in a month. Fitrat said that they are receiving essential services including rations, drinking water, medical treatment and other essential services in their own country. Similarly, at a high-level meeting held in Kabul on Tuesday, Minister for Administrative Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi told senior officials of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) that more than 8 million refugees have returned to Afghanistan since August 2021.
