Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem has announced that he will not accept the agreement reached between Lebanon and Israel in Washington, DC. He called the agreement humiliating, shameful and nothing more than a surrender of sovereignty.  Despite the agreement, one person was killed and two others were injured in an Israeli attack in southern Lebanon on Saturday, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. Hezbollah released its official statement shortly after the incident.

The agreement signed on Friday stipulated that Israel would withdraw its troops from Lebanon and disarm Hezbollah. But Qassem said that the Israeli occupation cannot be linked to Hezbollah's resistance.

"We will resist to defeat the Israeli occupation. We will not abandon the ground in difficult circumstances and we will not suspend our resistance," Kamis said in a statement.

Hezbollah leader Qassem said the Lebanese government had made a false deal to legitimize Israel's occupation. He also said that Israel could seize more territory in the future after the deal.

In the past, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, economist Bezalel Smotrich and other officials have said that Israeli troops could remain in occupied territory in Lebanon even if Hezbollah disarms.

"We will be there until Hezbollah disarms. I think we will be there after that because we have to protect the border," Smotrich said earlier this week.

Hezbollah supporters protested in Beirut on Friday after a US-brokered ceasefire agreement was signed between Lebanon and Israel. They burned tires and blocked roads.
