The US House of Representatives has passed a resolution that would limit President Donald Trump's ability to launch military strikes on Iran without congressional approval. The resolution passed by a vote of 215-208 on Wednesday night, with four Republicans joining Democrats in supporting the measure.

Although the resolution is unlikely to become law, it is seen as a strong political message against Trump's decision to join Israel in attacking Iran on February 28. The war will enter its 100th day on Saturday.

Trump did not seek congressional approval for the war. He has tried to describe it as a "short-term military campaign."

Trump's repeated moves to use military force abroad have angered some members of Congress. Under the US Constitution, only Congress has the power to declare war.

This is the fourth time this year that the House has voted on a war powers resolution that would force Trump to seek congressional approval for military action against Iran.

But this is the first time the resolution has passed the House. Earlier, there were allegations that the Republican leadership tried to block the proposal.
