At least three people have died in a fire at the ICU of a private hospital in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, India.

According to news agency ANI, the incident took place at the Prasad hospital in the district. According to the district administration, at least three people have died due to the fire in the ICU. After confirming the death of four people, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased.

More people are suspected to have been affected by the fire. Some media outlets have reported that the death toll has reached around 10 and many are injured. Most of the dead and injured are said to be hospitalized patients.

According to the district administration, the initial investigation has shown that a short circuit was the cause of the incident. However, the full details of the incident will be revealed only after the investigation.
