At least 18 people have been killed in overnight Russian missile and drone strikes in Ukraine, including two children. The dead include two children. The strikes are one of the largest in recent months by Russia. Regional authorities say 12 bodies, including an eight-year-old boy and a woman, have been pulled from the rubble of an apartment block in Dnipro. Six people have died in the capital, Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said more than 100 people had been injured in the attacks, targeting public infrastructure, private property and energy facilities across the country. An airstrike warning was issued for most of Ukraine early on Tuesday. Moscow had warned of an attack on Ukraine last week. Russia said the strikes were in response to a Ukrainian drone strike on a dormitory in the Luhansk region two weeks ago that killed 21 people. Russia said in a statement that "all objectives of the attack" had been achieved. Ukraine has acknowledged that an attack took place near Starobilsk, Luhansk, on the night of May 21-22, but has insisted that the attack targeted Russian military infrastructure, not dormitories.
Both Russia and Ukraine have continued to attack each other since a short-lived ceasefire expired in May.
