(Kathmandu)-Kakroch Janata Party (CJP) has twice as many followers on Instagram as the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). As of Friday, CJP has been followed by about 29 million people. The BJP account has 8.8 million followers. A website has also been launched in the name of Kakroch Janata Party. The party has been launched only 6 days.
According to the information given on the website, more than 1 lakh people have become members of the party in 72 hours. Similarly, it has been informed that two Lok Sabha members are also on the party's board. Trinamool Congress MPs Mahua Moitra and Kirti Azad had said that they supported the party. The CJP website also mentions that the MPs have publicly accepted CJP's membership.
While sharing CJP's post, Mahua Moitra had said that she also wanted to become a member of the 'anti-national party'. Kirti Azad also asked what qualifications are required to join the party. To this, CJP has also replied that, ‘Winning the 1983 World Cup is enough.’
Kirti Azad was also a team member under Kapil Dev’s captaincy when India won the 1983 World Cup.
Currently, the ‘Main Bhi Kakaroch’ campaign is being launched in India. CJP has presented itself as the voice of the lazy and unemployed. The campaign is named symbolically after Indian Chief Justice Suryakant called the youth lazy and cockroaches.
CJP has claimed it as a political platform of youth, created by youth for youth. In a few days, lakhs of youth have joined this campaign. The founder of the party is Abhijit Deepke, a 30-year-old student studying public relations at Boston University. He worked as a volunteer in the social media team of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from 2020 to 2023. The CJP claims to be the ‘voice of people frustrated with the current system’.
Moreover, there are various criticisms being made about the name of the party. Some have also said that it is based on the alleged statement of Indian Chief Justice Surya Kant. Surya Kant had made a similar statement targeting the youth. Surya Kant had said, ‘Some youth are like cockroaches. Those who
do not get jobs, they attack the system by becoming media, social media or RTI activists.’ Later, he even claimed that his statement was distorted.
However, CJP founder Abhijit Deepke has responded to this in a humorous manner. He said, ‘As the founder of the cockroach Janata Party, I condemn this explanation.’ The CJP has also released an AI-generated anthem. Where it is said, ‘We are the cockroach party, we are children of a burning city.’ The CJP has also said that it will hold the first Gen-G conference virtually.
The CJP has also raised its voice about the paper leaks and irregularities in exams like the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and CBSE, which have been shaking Indian politics in recent times. The CJP’s five-point manifesto has also been made public. The CJP demands that no Chief Justice will be given a Rajya Sabha seat after retirement. The 46th Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, became a Rajya Sabha member shortly after his retirement. After retiring as the Chief Justice on 17 November 2019, he became a Rajya Sabha member on 17 March 2020.
Similarly, the CJP has another declaration that if any valid voter is removed from the voter list, action should be taken against the Chief Election Commissioner under the UAPA law. The CJP manifesto also mentions 50 percent reservation for women in Parliament and the cabinet and guarantees of press freedom. Similarly, he has also announced that he will introduce a system that will bar MPs and MLAs who change parties from contesting elections for 20 years.
CJP founder Abhijit has said that his movement will not be like that of the Gen-Gs of Nepal and Bangladesh. He said that journalists have asked him whether there will be a movement like that in Nepal and Bangladesh. He said, ‘I want to make this clear.
Do not insult the Gen-Gs of India by making such a comparison. The youth of this country are very mature, aware and politically conscious. They know their constitutional rights, and they also know how to dissent democratically and peacefully.’
