Alex Saab, a former industry minister close to ousted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, has been extradited to the United States. Alex Saab is a billionaire. Colombian-born Saab was a close minister to Nicolas Maduro.

Alex Saab was arrested in Caracas in February in a joint operation by American and Venezuelan authorities. It is not yet clear what charges he is facing.

Alex Saab was previously arrested in the West African country of Cabo Verde in 2020. He was sent to the United States to stand trial on charges of money laundering. But he was acquitted three years later.

Last January, the United States launched a special military operation in Venezuela to arrest Nicolas Maduro. And was taken to the United States.

During a court hearing there, Maduro said, ‘Yes, I am Nicolás Maduro. I am the President of the Republic of Venezuela. And I have been living here since January 3rd. I was arrested from my home in Caracas, Venezuela.’
