US President Donald Trump said that trade, Iran and “many other issues” were discussed in both meetings with his Chinese counterpart.
He met with Chinese President Xi Jinping for the second time on Friday morning, after arriving in Beijing for a two-day visit. The two leaders spoke to reporters in a room in Zhongnanhai after the meeting.
During the meeting, Trump said that they “solved a lot of different problems that no one else could solve.”
Speaking about Iran, he said, “We don’t want them to have nuclear weapons” and “We want the Strait of Hormuz to be open.”
He then thanked Xi and said that he was honored to be in Beijing.
He said that they would meet again when Xi visits the US on September 24 and hoped that Xi would be as impressed by the US as he was by China.
Trump will return to the US today after completing his two-day visit.
