According to the rules of personal safety in all 50 states of America, every person is allowed to carry a gun with him after completing the usual legal process. For this reason, shooting incidents occur almost daily in some place in America.  

Various studies have shown that in America, where it is considered normal to carry a gun, domestic disputes, anger, suicide, personal confrontations, confrontations with security personnel, accidents, police actions and mass shootings occur. According to a study by the American research organization Pew Research Center, 44,447 people lost their lives in shootings in various places in 2024 alone.  The study prepared by Pew based on data from the US government agency US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed that the number of deaths in shootings in 2024 was the highest since 1968. According to the data, 46,728 people died in shootings in 2023, 48,204 in 2022, and 48,830 in 2021. Official figures for 2025 have not yet been released. 

Of the 44,447 shooting deaths in 2024, 62 percent (27,593) were suicides, 35 percent (15,364) were homicides, 636 were law enforcement-related, 450 were accidents, and 404 were under unknown circumstances, according to PU data. According to the study conducted in 2024, Washington DC, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and New Mexico had the highest number of shootings, and New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, Idaho, and North Dakota had the lowest number of shootings.

The murder suspect, Samar, was killed in a police operation. Ten people were shot in the incident. Seven of them, including their mother, died. The incident is considered the deadliest mass shooting since 2024.
