Two trains collided in Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia, killing 14 people and injuring 84 others.

According to local authorities, the accident occurred at 8:50 pm local time on Monday when two long-distance trains on the Jakarta-Bekasi route collided.

Bobby Residen, the train operator and KAI president and director, confirmed that 14 people had died. He said the deceased had been taken to the police hospital for identification, while 84 injured people had been taken to various health facilities for treatment.

Following the accident, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto visited the victims at a hospital in Bekasi to express his condolences and pledged to quickly investigate the incident.

The train operator and the National Transportation Safety Committee said they were investigating the cause of the accident.
