Meanwhile, as regional tensions escalate, US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the ceasefire would be maintained for some time and said that he would try to hold peace talks mediated by Pakistan .
Trump said that the ceasefire was aimed at giving Iran's leadership time to come up with proposals for talks .
Iran has not responded to the latest US announcement .
In the initial talks in Islamabad, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baghair Ghalibaf, who led the Iranian team, made it clear that the ceasefire would have no meaning while the US naval blockade continued .
He said there was no way to open the Strait of Hormuz due to the clear violation of the ceasefire.
The oil market has been volatile since Israel and the US attacked Iran on February 28.
Prices have been rising on fears of renewed war, although the US stock market has shown some stability.
