Two ships were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, the British military said. Iran has claimed responsibility for one of the attacks. The British military said the attackers on the second ship are yet to be identified. The container ship attacked by Iran has sustained some damage. But no one was injured. Britain said there was no damage to the other ship. Iran is also suspected of involvement in the attack on that ship. Iran's Fars News reported that the ship was fired upon after it ignored the Iranian military's warning. The Revolutionary Guards were quoted by Iran's Fars News as saying. "The shots were fired to enforce Iran's legitimate control over Hormuz," Fars News quoted the Revolutionary Guards as saying. Iran has been blocking the Strait of Hormuz since the US-Israeli attack on February 28. Iran demands that its sovereignty be established in the Strait of Hormuz.  The attack on the ship came as the Iran-US ceasefire period was nearing its end. Earlier, US President Donald Trump had said that the ceasefire period would be extended, but the US blockade on Hormuz would not be lifted.

Iran has taken a stand that it will not sit at the negotiating table until the US  blockade on Hormuz is lifted.  Preparations for talks are also underway in Pakistan. However, both sides have not been able to agree so far.
