Iran and the US have said they are ready for the second round of talks. On Wednesday, Pakistan's Army Chief Field Marshal Ashim Munir arrived in Tehran for talks with Iran. He conveyed the US's offer of talks to the Iranian government. During that, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that his country is ready for peace and stability. White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt said that a positive atmosphere has been created for the talks. She said that Pakistan would be a good destination for the second round of talks. "Nothing is official until we get something formal from the White House. But we feel that there is a positive atmosphere for an agreement now," she said.
Earlier, President Donald Trump had said that the first round of talks had ended on the issue of nuclear proliferation. The US was led by Vice President JD Vance in the talks in Islamabad.
The US and Iran have not directly attacked each other since a two-week ceasefire on April 8. But the US has deployed its navy to the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has already closed. The US has said that it has blocked the strait. Iran has accused the action of piracy.
