Direct talks between delegations from Iran and the United States, mediated by Pakistan, are continuing for a second day on Sunday. American media outlets quoted a White House official as saying that the talks have been ongoing for 15 hours. The Iranian government has said that talks are ongoing despite some differences. A team of Iranian and American experts exchanged written letters after an hour-long direct discussion on Saturday night. The Iranian government said in a post on social media that economic, military, legal and nuclear committees were involved in the talks. “Talks are ongoing at the Serena Hotel to finalize technical details,” it said. The nearly five-week-long war that began after the US-Israeli attack on February 28 ended with a ceasefire last Tuesday (Wednesday, Nepali time). The two sides have been sitting at the table for direct talks on Saturday since then. This is the first time that Iranian representatives have sat down at the table for direct talks with the United States since the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979.  The US delegation is led by US Vice President JD Vance.  He is also joined by US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff.

The Iranian delegation is led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The delegation includes Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and other high-ranking officials.  Experts from both countries are also participating in the delegations.
