Iran's state broadcaster IRIB has claimed that no US ships have passed through the Strait of Hormuz, citing a senior military official.

The claim comes after US news site Axios, citing a US official, said that some US naval vessels had passed through the waterway. Donald Trump also claimed that the US was working to remove mines from the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump claims that the US is removing mines from the Strait of Hormuz

In a post on his social media account Truth Social, Trump claimed that the only 'danger' left from Iran is the sea mines that Iranian ships have placed in the Strait of Hormuz.

'We are now starting the process of clearing the Strait of Hormuz for the benefit of China, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany and other countries around the world,' he wrote.

Trump has also accused those countries of 'lacking the courage or will' to do this themselves.

After more than a month of war, Iran and the US are holding peace talks today under the mediation of Pakistan. However, the talks will not be face-to-face. Representatives from both sides will sit in separate rooms at the Jinnah Conference Center in Islamabad. Pakistani mediators will convey each other's messages to both sides. A negotiating team led by Vice President JD Vance has arrived in Islamabad from the US. The team includes President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and West Asia envoy Steve Witkoff.

An Iranian delegation also arrived in Islamabad on Saturday. The delegation, led by Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, includes Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and senior officials.
