The most famous name in the world of generative AI is: ChatGPT. People use this AI tool to solve their smallest and most secret problems. They ask the most secret questions of their lives in a conversation with ChatGPT and reveal the answers.

ChatGPT is a company owned by Open AI.

Sam Altman, the CEO and founder of this company, is currently embroiled in legal trouble. From the world's richest man Elon Musk to his own sister, he has made such serious cases against him, which, if proven, will tarnish not only his credibility but also the credibility of Open AI. However, he has so far denied these allegations.

In a long article published in The New Yorker, his colleagues and former employees have accused Altman of not being a trustworthy person. In an interview with The New Yorker, a board member of Open AI accused Altman of being an antisocial personality. ‘He has a dual personality. That you never see in one person. First, he wants to please people so much. He makes fun of every conversation. Second, he is antisocial. He doesn’t care at all about the consequences of lying to others.’

In The New Yorker, Ronan Farrow and Andrew Marantz have exposed many aspects of his personal life in the article ‘Sam Altman Can Control Our Future: Can He Be Trusted?’. In this regard, former Open AI board member Sui Yon told The New Yorker, ‘He is very firm in his beliefs. If you are down to earth, it doesn’t matter if you stick to your beliefs.’ But, he's not in the real world.'

The New Yorker reported this as Altman's sister filed a sexual assault lawsuit against him.

Annie Altman has filed a lawsuit against Sam Altman, accusing him of sexual assault in 1997 and 2006. She says the past abuse still hurts.

The charges, filed in January 2025 in a county court in San Francisco, California, were dismissed in March 2025 as the statute of limitations had expired. On April 1, they were amended to include a misdemeanor charge of child abuse.

Sam has denied the charges.

Her mother and two brothers also issued statements in January 2025 saying Annie suffered from mental illness and that all of her claims were false. The investigation is ongoing. He has instead accused Annie of defamation.

Altman is ranked 1,251st on the list of the world's richest people according to Forbes magazine. Forbes estimates his net worth at $3.3 billion.

Elon Musk, the world's richest person, has been in a legal battle with Altman and his company Open AI since 2024. A federal court in Oakland, California, has scheduled Musk's case for hearing on April 27.

Musk and Altman founded Open AI in 2015. Both were co-chairmen at the time of its founding. The company was initially intended to be a non-profit. According to Musk, the company's goal was to be used for research, security, and humanitarian services. Musk initially invested $38 million in the company. Altman and Musk began a dispute in 2017 after the trillion-dollar investment required to build artificial intelligence (AI).

And, in 2018, he left. Altman soon turned the company into a profitable company. Microsoft invested $1 billion in the company in 2019 and $2 billion in 2021. The company gained global attention within days of the launch of the generative AI ChatGPT on November 30, 2022.

Microsoft invested an additional $10 billion on January 23, 2023 to make the company more powerful. Musk opposed this investment at the time.

Musk first filed a lawsuit against the company on March 1, 2023. The case was filed in the Federal Court in Auckland. Musk accused Altman of illegally turning the company into a profit-making company. However, he withdrew the case on June 11, 2024. He said he would file a new lawsuit with new evidence at the time.

On August 5, 2024, he filed a new lawsuit against Microsoft and Open AI. The lawsuit, filed in Auckland, alleges that Altman misused Open AI, which was founded with the goal of providing humanitarian services on a non-profit basis, to turn it into a for-profit company.

Musk claims that Microsoft was given shares in the name of profit and that the process was contrary to the company's founding principles. He claims that the company was initially established with the intention of using it for humanitarian services. He also alleges that Altman has manipulated the company's board and employees.

He had demanded $79 billion to $134 billion in damages from Open AI and Microsoft. The last time he amended the lawsuit on Tuesday, he increased the amount of damages to $150 billion. He demands that he receive more compensation because his investment, image, and hard work are involved. He has also demanded the resignation of Altman and Chairman Greg Bregman.

However, Musk has demanded that the compensation be deposited into the account of the nonprofit branch of Open AI, not his personal account. Since 2019, Altman has been advancing Open AI in a hybrid model, making it both profitable and non-profit.

Altman-led Open AI has accused Musk of deliberately filing the lawsuit to disrupt its company's work.

'Elon today amended his lawsuit at the last minute, changing the language of his previous aggressive campaign against the nonprofit Open AI Foundation,' the company wrote. 'It is clear that Elon is filing this lawsuit to gain more power and more money. He wants to slow down the activities and development of the nonprofit Open AI Foundation by filing baseless lawsuits. As the hearing approaches, he has once again tried to cover up his shame by changing his language. His lawsuit is nothing more than a smear campaign. It is motivated by pride, jealousy, and the desire to slow down competitors,' Open AI said in a statement.

Musk and Altman have been exchanging accusations on social media in this regard.

In February 2025, Musk's lawyer Mark Roberoff sent a letter to the California federal court with an offer to buy the nonprofit Open AI. He expressed his desire to buy the company for about $97.4 billion.

In response, Altman wrote on Musk's own social network X on February 10, 'Thanks. But we don't want it. Instead, if you want to sell, we'll buy Twitter (X) for $9.74 billion.'

In response, Musk wrote: 'Thug'.

Musk, the founder of world-famous companies Tesla and Space X, bought Twitter on October 28, 2022, after leaving Open AI. In July 2023, it was named X. X AI was launched on July 12, 2023. Then on November 4, 2023, Grok AI was launched. Grok is one of ChatGPT's competitors.
